How it works

Three steps. Then repeat.

01

Set the test

Choose equal-weight questions or a points-off scale, then set the total.

02

Enter one deduction

Use questions missed for equal weighting, or points off when partial credit matters.

03

Keep your rhythm

Read the score, percentage, letter, and pass status, then start the next paper.

How is the score calculated?

Equal weighting: score = total questions − questions missed.

Points off: score = total points − points off.

Percentage: score ÷ total × 100.

Example: 20 questions, 3 missed = 17/20 = 85% = B with the default bands.

FAQ

A few useful answers

Can I use my own letter grades?

Yes. Change each label and cutoff in the letter bands. Cutoffs need to run from highest to lowest, and the last band starts at 0%.

Is the pass line the same as the letter grade?

No. The pass line is a separate marker, so you can keep it independent from your letter bands.

Why does the letter sometimes differ from the rounded percentage?

The visible percentage follows your display setting. Letter grades and pass status always use the exact percentage before rounding.

What does GradeTap save?

It keeps your grading settings on this device when available. It does not save student names or individual grades.

Can I use GradeTap as a test grade calculator?

Yes. Enter questions missed for equal-weight tests, or points off when partial credit matters. GradeTap shows the score, percentage, letter grade, and pass status.

Can I print a grade chart?

Yes. Open the grade table to make a printable chart using your current total, grading scale, and selected table step.
